The board game "Aridnyk" was created based on the painting "Aridnyk. Creation of the world". It is based on folktales and ancient ideas of ancient Ukrainians about the world, collected by Volodymyr Shukhevych in the ethnographic collection "Hutsulshchyna".
At the event, the authors of the game (chief developer Volodymyr Kuznetsov and founder of the publishing house Zholud Dobrovolskyi) will share more than 1.5 years of history of game strategy creation, game design and game testing in Ukraine.

Inspired by stories about Hutsul spirits, the developers created a game world in which players become shepherds who lead their flocks of sheep through mountain rivers, forests and fields, meeting the spirits of the majestic Carpathians along the way: Aridnyk, Boga, Aley, Vovka and others.
The board game "Aridnyk" was the first to be developed by the Ukrainian publishing house boardova, but now the team is preparing for the announcement of several more releases, which they plan to publish in 2024.

boardov'i are satisfied! No, boardov was super happy to see you all, and I was especially pleased with your interest in "Aridnyk".
At GG, visitors also had the opportunity to test the mechanics of the game and talk with our game devs, where they shared the secrets of development. Or rather, the thorny path of Ukrainian production of board games.

Together with our partners, we’ve organized two game nights: first at the board game club/shop “Octopus” on Oct. 10th, and second – at the board game shop Gavial on Oct. 21st.

While our board game is still printing, we prepared a couple of prototype copies for different occasions &ndash; such as these events, for example. A great opportunity for the boardgame geeks to test the game, while waiting for their preorder.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; Together with our partners, we&rsquo;ve organized two game nights: first at the board game club/shop &ldquo;Octopus&rdquo; on Oct. 10th, and second &ndash; at the board game shop Gavial on Oct. 21st.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; These events helped us realize a few things.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; First, although the game is cute and cheerful, adults are fascinated with it no less than with more mature-themed games.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; Second, perhaps, when we determined the age rating for the &ldquo;Aridnyk&rdquo; we might underestimated our younger audience. We thought the full game would be appropriate for kids over 10, and a family game mode would be OK for kids of 8+. But the youngest player in one of the events was just 6!&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; Of course, the game can be a bit difficult for younger ages &ndash; it contains a lot of text on cards and requires planning &ndash; but it can be played by kids, with the support of their parents.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; Bright and cute illustrations as well as unique lore of the game, fancy characters, and cute sheep tokens will surely draw the player&rsquo;s attention despite age.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; We hope everyone will find something interesting in this game: awesome art for youngsters and grown-ups &ndash; planning and strategy with their sheep flocks!

Поки наша настілочка в процесі друку, ми маємо кілька прототипів гри для ось таких от івентів. Це чудова можливість потестити майбутню гру.&nbsp;

І ці події допомогли нам зрозуміти кілька речей.&nbsp;
По-перше, попри свою дитячу милоту, наша гра заходить дорослій аудиторії на ура.&nbsp;
По-друге, можливо ми "Арідника" недооцінили в певній мірі. Бо гра планувалася для людей від 10-ти років, але у Гавіалі в неї зіграла наймолодша учасниця, якій було 6 рочків.
Звісно ми не плекаємо надії, що гра зайде усім маленьким діткам, бо все ж містить багато текстової частини та вимагає певного стратегічного бачення. Однак кожен гравець знайде у ній своє.&nbsp;
До того ж, яскравий візуальний ряд карток, цікаві герої та непересічні овечки приваблюють будь-який вік.
Сподіваємося малечі було як мінімум цікаво розглядати картки, а дорослим - шукати своїх овечок.

Finally, we exhaled and decided to summarize the Dice Con fest, to which the boardova team was kindly invited.
To be honest, we knew that the festival was not aimed at board game fans. Yes, role-playing games and board games can coexist in the same space, and we were prepared for the fact that there would be a much larger number of fans of the former at the festival. However, the interest in our board game Aridnyk exceeded all expectations.&nbsp;
By the way, we will announce pre-orders for the game soon. So, we brought only two prototypes of our game to the festival, but the activity of the visitors once again convinced us that we are moving in the right direction.
During the three days of the event, we played about 30-40 games with different people and in 99% of cases, the impressions of the mechanics and the world were very positive; 1%, most likely, just kept silent. This may sound arrogant, but for those who own a whole flock of sheep, it's justified arrogance. But seriously, it was really nice to hear positive feedback about the game. And even more, praise was the desire of festival visitors to play the game more than once.
We also raffled off three certificates for pre-ordering Aridnyk. That is, the first certificate was part of the lot for the charity collection held at the festival; the second certificate was a prize for the winner of the quiz, and the third certificate was drawn among those who participated in the game or simply took a story with our stand and shared it on Instagram. We determined the winner right after the festival.
It was our first festival, but we can already say that it was a very successful start. &nbsp; We are actively continuing to work on the development of our projects. In particular, we do not forget about the adaptations from Hamsel. We can't say much, but it's working, almost certainly.
We are sincerely grateful to the organizers of Dice Con for inviting us and creating this festival. It gives us hope that despite everything, our gaming industries are alive. Moreover, they are developing despite all the difficulties.&nbsp;

 Зізнатися чесно, ми знали, що фестиваль не орієнтований на любителів настільних ігор. Так, рольові ігри та настолки цілком можу існувати в одному просторі, але фанатів першого на фестивалі очікувалося в значно більшій кількості. Проте інтерес до нашої гри "Арідник", перевершив всі очікування.&nbsp;
 До слова, передзамовлення на гру ми оголосимо вже незабаром. Тож на фестиваль ми принеслилише два прототипи нашої гри і чесно кажучи, активність відвідувачів вчергове переконала нас, що ми рухаємося у правильному напрямку.
 За три дні дійства ми зіграли приблизно в 30-40 партій з різними людьми і в 99% випадків враження від механіки та всесвіту були дуже позитивні; 1% швидше за все просто сором'язливо промовчав. Це можливо звучить самовпевнено, але для тих, хто володіє цілою отарою овець, це виправдана пиха. А якщо без жартів, було справді приємно чути позитивні відгуки про гру. А ще більшою похвалою було бажання відвідувачів фестивалю зіграти в гру більше ніж один раз.
 До речі, ми розіграли три сертифікати на передзамовлення "Арідника". Тобто перший сертифікат був частиною лотів для благочинного збору (дай інфу); другий сертифікат - (дай інфу); третій - ми розіграли серед тих, хто брав участь у грі, або просто зробив сторіз з нашим стендом та виклав фото в інстаграмі. Переможця ми визначили одразу після фестивалю.
 Це був наш перший фестиваль настільно-рольових ігор і старт був дуже вдалий. &nbsp; Ми активно продовжуємо працювати над реалізацією наших проєктів. Зокрема і про адаптації від Гамсель ми також не забуваємо. Ми не можемо багато говорити, але воно "робісє", повірте.
 Ми щиро вдячні організаторам Dice Con за запрошення та створення цього фестивалю. Це дає надію на те, що попри все, наші ігрові індустрії живі. Мало того, вони розвиваються попри усі труднощі.&nbsp;

boardova team is ready to open the curtain and tell you about the development of the board game Aridnyk!
This game was created in partnership with <a href="https://uacomix.com/" title="UA Comix" target="_blank" rel="noopener">UA Comix</a>, based on the comics Aridnyk. Creation of the World by artist Lyudmyla Samus, author of the idea of the painting Nestor Lisovsky. The story is based on Hutsul legends taken from Volodymyr Shukhevych's ethnographic study "Hutsulshchyna", Mykhailo Kotsiubynskyi's novel "Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors", as well as songs and fairy tales of the Ukrainian Carpathians.
We invite you to plunge into the magical atmosphere of Hutsul mythology and send your shepherds to the mountains, where they will take care of their sheep and interact with the mysterious spirits of the Carpathians. Obtain and use magical items - goodies - and complete special tasks - thoughts - for which you can get a reward. The shepherd or shepherdess who has the largest flock at the end of the game will win.
The Aridnyk board game will be an exciting adventure for both adults and children.

Board game about resistance to the system in the world of the most famous dystopia

Настільна гра про опір системі у світі найвідомішої антиутопії

Based on George Orwell's cult novel 1984, this game is about the pressure of totalitarian reign and the cost of resisting it. It&rsquo;s about a world where freedom and individuality are considered crimes, and the directives of the party, no matter how absurd they seem, must be fulfilled.&nbsp;&nbsp;
Each of the players will take control of a character, a member of the lower party, an inhuman bureaucratic machine that embodies absolute power over thoughts and actions. In the world created by this machine, there is no place for personal aspirations and actions - only collective need and collective responsibility. The player's actions will determine not only the path of his character, but also their fate, no matter how it turns out.

1984: THE INDIVIDUAL AGAINST THE SYSTEM

At the beginning of the game, each player receives a Role card. It remains secret during the game. The role determines what events are significant for them at the end of the game, what their reputation should be, and what aspirations guide them.
Also, each player starts the game with 1 Trauma and 1 Suspicion - a totalitarian society leaves its mark on everyone. Gradually, both Trauma and Suspicion will increase, as dictatorship devours even the most loyal. As soon as the Trauma or Suspicion reaches 6, the character will become pulverized. Pulverization is not death, but in some ways it is worse than death. The player will continue to play, but his goals will change and the fate of their character will become much darker in the end.
The game lasts for 5 rounds. At the beginning of each round, the Responsible Executive (the first player) will open the Directive card, which will define the common goal of the players in that round.&nbsp;

THE COURSE OF THE GAME

Main mode. The main game mode that will allow you to experience life in a totalitarian state from start to finish.
Solo mode. Allows you to independently follow the path of a rebel or opportunist in the deadly labyrinth of INGSOCCampaign mode. The story of several characters, going through all circles of totalitarian hell one by one. But how will their journey end?

Кожен з гравців керуватиме персонажем, членом нижньої партії, знеособленої бюрократичної машини, що втілює абсолютну владу над думками і вчинками. В утвореному цією машиною світі немає місця особистим прагненням та вчинкам &ndash; лише колективна потреба і колективна ж відповідальність. Дії гравця визначать не тільки шлях його персонажа, але й подальшу долю &ndash; як вона б не склалася.

1984: ОСОБИСТІСТЬ ПРОТИ СИСТЕМИ

На початку гри кожен гравець отримує роль, не розкриваючи її іншим. Роль визначатиме, які саме події в кінці гри будуть для нього визначними, якою мусить бути його репутація і які прагнення їм керуватимуть.
Також, кожен гравець почне гру з 1 травмою та 1 підозрою &ndash; тоталітарне суспільство лишає свій відбиток на кожному. Поступово і травм, і підозри ставатиме більше, бо диктатура пожирає навіть найлояльніших. Щойно травма або підозра сягне 6 &ndash; персонаж стане розпорошеним. розпорошення не дорівнює смерті, але певним чином воно гірше за смерть. Гравець продовжуватиме гру, але цілі його зміняться, а доля стане суттєво похмурішою.
Гра триватиме 5 раундів. На початку кожного раунду, Відповідальний виконавець (перший гравець) відкриватиме карту Директиви, яка визначатиме спільну ціль гравців у цьому раунді. Потім гравці по черзі робитимуть ходи.

ПЕРЕБІГ ГРИ: як (не) підкоритися режиму

Базовий режим. Основний режим гри, що дозволить від початку і до кінця відчути життя в тоталітарній державі.
Соло-режим. Дозволить самостійно пройти шляхом бунтаря або опортуніста в тенетах Ангсоцу&nbsp;
Режим кампанії. Історія кількох персонажів, які одне по одному проходять кола тоталітарного пекла. Але чим саме завершиться їхній шлях?&nbsp;

The board game about charms and shepherds is designed for 1-4 players and will allow players to immerse themselves in the world of Ukrainian Hutsul mythology.
In &laquo;Aridnyk&raquo;, you will play as shepherds who take their flocks to the mountains in the spring and travel until the fall, looking for the best pastures, meeting the ancient spirits of the Carpathians, and implementing their intricate plans. You will think about how to avoid falling into the jaws of a giant Wolf, how to outwit the Blackbird, who was ordered by God to shepherd all the sheep in the world. You will see how Aley, the spirit of God, splits the earth with a single movement. You will exchange magical treasures with Aridnyk, who was God's first brother. And, of course, you will learn wisdom from the Highest God, who knows everything about everything.

ARIDNYK. BOARD GAME OF CHARMS AND SHEPHERDS

During their turns, players will place tiles to move their shepherds and spirits, earning certain rewards for doing so. The game will continue until all tiles are placed. When the player who has placed the last tile completes his or her turn, all players will count their sheep and the one with the most will win the game.&nbsp;
In his turn, each player performs the following actions: on his turn, player puts 1 tile from his hand on the field and then plays its black properties. Properties can be played in any order, in whole or in part, or not at all.&nbsp; If a player moves his shepherd piece, he plays the white properties of the tile he stopped on. If a shepherd meets a spirit on the same tile as his shepherd, or brings a spirit to a tile with his shepherd, he can exchange with that spirit. Then the player takes 1 tile from the horizon and puts a new one in its place.&nbsp;
At any time during his or her turn, a player can realize one of &laquo;Plots&raquo; &ndash; if the conditions of such a plan are met, the player receives a certain reward. Also, if desired, in his turn, the player can play 1 card of a &laquo;Trinkets&raquo; &ndash; a magical object that provides some kind of advantage or reward.

Normal mode. In normal mode, you will compete to collect the largest flock of sheep.
Family game. Simplified rules of the game for the company, if the basic rules seem complicated to you.
Solo mode. For fans of Hutsul stories and connoisseurs of full immersion in board games.
Cooperative mode. It will allow you to immerse yourself in the plot by realizing the stories collected in a separate rulebook. This mode is suitable for those who like to make plans and solve difficult (or not so) tasks.
Not easy. A separate set of Difficulty cards allows players to gain a unique advantage early in the game and throughout the rest of the game, such as moving spirits more efficiently or making certain Intentions easier to complete.

У &laquo;Аріднику&raquo; ви будете грати за пастухів, які навесні ведуть свої отари в гори і мандрують до осені, шукаючи найкращі пасовища, зустрічаючи стародавніх духів Карпат і реалізовуючи їхні хитромудрі плани. Ви будете думати про те, як не потрапити в пащу велетенського Вовка, як перехитрити Дрозда, якому Бог наказав пасти всіх овець на світі. Ви побачите, як Алей, дух Божий, одним рухом розколює землю. Ви обміняєтеся магічними скарбами з Арідником, який був першим братом Бога. І, звичайно, ти навчишся мудрості у Всевишнього Бога, який знає все про все.

АРІДНИК: ГРА ПРО ЧАРИ, ДУХІВ ТА ВІВЧАРІВ

Під час своїх ходів гравці розміщують плитки, щоб рухати своїх пастухів і духів, отримуючи за це певні винагороди. Гра триватиме, доки не будуть розміщені всі фішки. Коли гравець, який поклав останню плитку, завершить свій хід, усі гравці порахують своїх овець, і той, хто набере більше, виграє гру.&nbsp;
У свій хід кожен гравець виконує наступні дії: У свій хід гравець кладе 1 тайл зі своєї руки на поле, а потім відтворює його властивості чорного кольору. Властивості можна відтворювати в будь-якому порядку, повністю чи частково, або не відтворювати взагалі. Якщо гравець пересуває свою фігуру пастуха, він грає білими властивостями плитки, на якій він зупинився. Якщо пастух зустрічає духа на тій самій плитці, що й його пастух, або приносить духа на плитку зі своїм пастухом, він може обмінятися з цим духом. Потім гравець бере 1 тайл з горизонту і кладе на його місце новий.&nbsp;
У будь-який момент свого ходу гравець може реалізувати один зі своїх планів (&laquo;Задум&raquo;)- якщо умови такого плану виконуються, гравець отримує певну винагороду. Також при бажанні в свій хід гравець може розіграти 1 карту скарбу (&laquo;Знадіб&raquo;) - магічного предмета, який дає якусь перевагу або винагороду.

ПЕРЕБІГ ГРИ: що сі коїть?

Звичнайний режим. У звичайному режимі ви будете змагатися, збираючи найбільшу зграю овець.&nbsp;
Сімейна гра. Спрощені правила гри для компанії, якщо основні правила здаються вам заскладними.
Соло-режим. Для фанатів гуцульських історій та поціновувачів повноцінного занурення у ігролад настілок.
Кооперативний режим. Дозволить зануритись у сюжет реалізуючи історії зібрані в окремій книзі правил. Цей режим підійде тим, хто любить будувати плани і вирішувати складні (або не дуже) завдання.&nbsp;
Непрості. Окремий набір карт &laquo;Непрості&raquo; дозволяє гравцям отримати унікальну перевагу на початку гри та протягом решти гри, наприклад, ефективніше рухати духів або спростити виконання певних &laquo;Задумів&raquo;.
