Our First Festival — or Three Incredible Days at Dice Con

We’ve finally taken a breath and decided to share our reflections on Dice Con, where the boardova team was kindly invited.

To be honest, we knew the festival wasn’t primarily aimed at tabletop gaming fans. Sure, role-playing games and board games can happily coexist in the same space — but this time, the RPG enthusiasts were clearly the majority. Still, the interest in our game «Aridnyk» exceeded all expectations.

We only brought two prototypes of the game to the festival, and honestly, the visitors’ engagement once again proved that we’re moving in the right direction.

Over the course of three days, we played around 30–40 sessions with different people, and in 99% of cases, the reactions to the mechanics and the world were overwhelmingly positive. The remaining 1% probably just kept quiet out of shyness. That may sound a bit confident, but for those who command a whole herd of sheep, it’s well-earned pride. And jokes aside, it was truly heart-warming to hear such positive feedback — even more so when visitors wanted to play the game more than once.

We also held a giveaway for three pre-order certificates for «Aridnyk». The first certificate was part of a charity auction lot (info to be added); the second one — (info to be added); and the third — was raffled among those who played the game or shared a story or photo of our booth on Instagram. We announced the winner right after the festival.

This was our first tabletop and role-playing festival — and it was a great start.
We’re actively continuing work on our projects, including the upcoming adaptations from Hamsel — we haven’t forgotten about those either. We can’t say much yet, but trust us — it’s happening.

We’re sincerely grateful to the organizers of Dice Con for the invitation and for creating this event. It gives us hope that despite everything, our gaming industries are alive — and more than that, they’re growing through every challenge.
